The AIGA holds a great event each year for students of the design world. This day long event offers the chance to get advice and helpful information by real design professionals to improve your portfolio. Also a great way to practice interviews and get real honest criticisms. I know sometime my school struggles with that. Space is limited so you need to act fast, and the event will sell out.
